Histoires de Parfums: Fragrance as Literature
Some perfumes smell beautiful. Histoires de Parfums tells stories.
Founded in Paris by Gérald Ghislain, Histoires de Parfums is a fragrance house unlike any other. Every perfume is written like a novel, composed like a musical score or crafted like a poem, drawing inspiration from extraordinary people, legendary years, iconic places and timeless works of art. Rather than simply creating beautiful scents, the maison transforms emotion, history and imagination into fragrances that unfold chapter by chapter on the skin.
It is an olfactory library where every bottle invites you to read a different story.
About the Founder: Gérald Ghislain
Gérald Ghislain has always been a storyteller.
An epicurean by nature, he draws inspiration from literature, travel, art, music and the fascinating people he encounters along the way. Since founding Histoires de Parfums in 2000, he has followed only one creative rule: inspiration.

As Gérald himself says, "My perfumes have never been about a quest for the most beautiful scent, but always for the most beautiful emotion."
Rather than following traditional fragrance conventions, Gérald enjoys reinterpreting classic olfactive families by introducing unexpected twists and unusual materials. The result is a collection of fragrances with remarkable depth, sensuality and personality, each one rich in character and impossible to forget.
The Experience
Every Histoires de Parfums fragrance begins with a story.
Some celebrate legendary historical figures, like Casanova, Mata Hari and Jules Verne, each named after their birth year and interpreted through scent. Others revisit iconic moments in history, such as the sensual revolution of 1969 or the dazzling world of the Moulin Rouge in 1889.
The house also explores literature, surrealism, poetry and philosophy through collections including This is not a Blue Bottle, inspired by René Magritte's famous artwork, and The Three Golds, where fragrances become poetic reflections on love, wisdom and eternity.

Despite their diverse inspirations, every perfume shares the same unmistakable signature: elegant French craftsmanship, luxurious raw materials and beautifully composed fragrances with exceptional depth and longevity.
Histoires de Parfums doesn't ask you to simply wear perfume. It invites you to experience a narrative, where every note reveals another sentence and every dry down becomes the final chapter.
Why We Love It
Because Histoires de Parfums reminds us that perfume is one of the most powerful forms of storytelling.
Each fragrance feels intellectual without ever becoming inaccessible. Romantic, theatrical, sensual and endlessly imaginative, these are perfumes that reward curiosity and invite conversation long after the first spray.
At Fragrance Artisans, we love Histoires de Parfums because every bottle offers something more than fragrance alone. It offers an emotion, a memory, a character or a moment in time, beautifully written in scent and waiting to be discovered.
